Conclusion

In summary, we demonstrated that modern wheat breeding synergistically improved the above- and belowground traits by selecting haplotypes with synergistic effects in the bi-effect selection blocks. These results fundamentally changed our current understanding of how modern wheat breeding increased grain yields.
